Women Self Defense
You will leave our class empowered! These private classes are for ladies that are ages 10 & up. To schedule your private self defense group, the group cost is $300 for 1 & 1/2 hours. Typically we schedule these on Friday or Saturday evenings from 5:30-7pm, but there is some flexibility to hold them on other days should it not interfere with our class & camp times. Please fill out a lead form, or call if you would like to schedule a private group. Also, we hold a free community self defense class in March which is always an option if you are unable to organize a group.
About The Program
Master Nathan will be the instructor for your self defense class. He is the owner of the academy who has over 20 years of martial arts experience. Master Grogan was the founder of the academy who was known as a community expert with self defense who passed on his knowledge & training to Nathan. Ultimately, we do recommend putting into practice what you learn in this course to receive the greatest benefit. Despite further practice, the class is intended to give you a clear set of actions to keep yourself as safe as possible.

4 Benefits of Booking a Goshen Self Defense Class
Our Women's Self Defense is designed to develop your confidence, improve your self defense skills, and build habits that help you live safely from threats. Here’s what makes our private self defense classes a great fit for your needs:
Live Safe Habits
At the beginning of the session, we talk about what we strategically keep in mind to be safe wherever we go. You’ll get to see different scenarios where situational awareness keeps you safe along with general habits to follow in your daily routine.
Building Confidence
Part of those habits is the ability to portray confidence. You will work on your posture in the case of someone being aggressive towards you. Having a strategic plan, and having more confidence in your technique allows you to portray your confidence.
Practical Self Defense
The primary focus of our self defense is to stay on your feet, and determine motions you are comfortable using to defend yourself. This way you can walk away knowing what to continue practicing against common attacks.
Team Building Activity
This is a fun & safe activity to do with your co-workers, friend group, or for any organization! It’s a great outing to share together, and learn as a group.

How would you describe your academy's culture?

The balance that we aim to strike with students is positively reinforcing specific areas that are performed well while holding students to the expectations of the appropriate class.
What makes your martial arts academy unique in the Edwardsville / Glen Carbon area?
The primary focus of our academy is to develop life skills and character development. You can expect a focus on improving confidence, focus, respect, self-discipline, and bullyproofing skills. You can refer to our benefits page to see more details on how we work on those skills!
What qualifications and experience do your instructors have?
Every instructor is a black belt, and has a minimum 6 years of training experience at our academy. Each certified instructor has trained in our leadership program for over 3 years. We only hire instructors from within to guarantee our team reflects our academy's culture, and can give the absolute best quality to your training.
How do you ensure a safe training environment and prevent injuries?
Your safety is a top priority at our academy. High intensity techniques are only practiced by hitting equipment. Anytime we conduct partner exercises using pads, we provide detailed instruction on how to hold the pads to prevent injuries. Sparring is another area in our curriculum that may result in contact. We introduce this training in stages of your martial arts journey to develop body control, which helps to minimize accidents.
What style do you teach?
Our style is based in Tang Soo Do. We have taken influence from multiple martial arts styles to create a unique self defense curriculum. You will learn self defense that helps protects you against bullies on the playground along with predators attacking on the streets. As you progress in your martial arts training, you'll develop reflexes in stand up sparring to handle attackers with more fighting experience than the average person.
Do you need any experience to get started in martial arts?
No experience is required! Everyone is encouraged to run their own race at our academy. This means our team of instructors will challenge you according to your physical conditioning level, and your overall confidence when you start.
